Geospatial Information supports for South Sulawesi Province

For the first time, BIG as the organizers of Geospatial Information in Indonesia held an event "Indonesia Handing Topographic Map and Geospatial Information Related Basic, the Program to Support MP3EI in South Sulawesi" (Wednesday, December 19, 2012). This activity is organized as BIG initiative to support the Government Masterplan for Acceleration, Expansion, and Economic Development of Indonesia (MP3EI) be a breakthrough to enhance the acceleration of national development by integrating regional and sectoral approach to the development of 6 (six) economic corridors across Indonesia, through a spatial approach. South Sulawesi priority because this region is one of the access door for the development of construction in eastern Indonesia. Implementation of development in South Sulawesi demanding availability Detail Spatial Plan (RDTR) accelerated development of the region as a base corridor.

Under the mandate of Law. 4 Year 2011 on Geospatial Information, BIG hold Geospatial Information  gradually and systematically for the whole of the Homeland and its jurisdiction based on national priorities and adequate support. In 2012, BIG make Topographic Map of Indonesia (RBI) South Sulawesi scale of 1:25.000. This scale is needed to support the formulation of spatial planning for the local government of South Sulawesi.

"Provincial targets to be achieved particularly South Sulawesi can not be separated from the data and information relating to the spatial. BIG as organizers Geospatial Information provides a basic map, another agency please fill out the particular theme (thematic) as necessary. As long as they refer to the same reference (One Map Policy) ", said the Head of BIG, Asep Karsidi in his speech. Geospatial Information Act mandates that BIG hold Basic Geospatial Information (IGD) scale 1:1,000,000 to 1:1,000. This is a heavy duty for BIG, that needs cooperation of many parties, especially the local government district / municipality and province. This is because the level that actually requires a 1:1,000 scale map to support planning. "Hopefully there will be a collaboration between BIG and local governments for large-scale mapping," added Asep Karsidi. BIG support government programs MP3EI particularly in South Sulawesi IG approach.

Meanwhile, the Government Secretary of South Sulawesi Province, H. A. Muallim, in his speech said that South Sulawesi is "COI" or Central of Indonesia. The reason, South Sulawesi would be measured from anywhere in the Homeland area were located in the middle or center. South Sulawesi became a pillar of national development because it has a lot to contribute, especially in the national food stock providers. "Base map still requires follow-up for common purposes," said H. A Muallim.

"How can South Sulawesi regard as the national food with IG?", Asked Deputy Science and Technology Empowerment Kemristek, Idwan Suhadi. South Sulawesi province as the recipient of many awards now have a challenge. The challenge is how to maintain and add to the achievements of South Sulawesi. "BIG ready to help monitor that received awards in South Sulawesi can be maintained," said Idwan Suhadi. The current government has a program of the Regional Innovation Systems (SIDA) based regional commodity. South Sulawesi with all potential commodities require support data and information based on spatial / spatial to realize the long-term vision as the locomotive of the east.

Development of welfare differ from region, is due to different potential anyway. "The development of economic corridors in South Sulawesi adapted to the potential region of South Sulawesi, namely agriculture," said Staff Expert of Ministry for People’s Welfare Sector and Climate Change Mitigation, Asep Jembar. Also explained that the Geospatial Information is very important as a means for planning all sectors, especially to improve the welfare of the community. Geospatial Information is needed in disaster management, environmental management and defense.

Before the Topographic map (RBI) left, is shown presenting "Utilization of RBI map" by Ade Komara from BIG. RBI also noted that a map that describes the basic elements of the earth's surface to the mainland. Basic map elements such as:

1. Shoreline
2. Hipsography (altitude information)
3. Water
4. Toponimy
5. Boundaries
6. Transportation and utilities
7. Buildings and public facilities
8. Land cover

Ade Komara demonstrating example application in the use of digital maps RBI for schools  distribution in South Sulawesi. There is a range of data related to home school students and approximately how long the travel time required. Shown are also examples of applications using digital maps RBI for evacuation in South Sulawesi. This is because South Sulawesi turned out to potentially affected by the tsunami. The data displayed in conjunction disaster evacuation routes, land cover for easy evacuation (flat ground or flew). This is because the distance between the earthquake and tsunami about 20 minutes.
