As a member of ICoMAR (Indonesian Consortium on Marine Research), along with 6 other institutions, BAKOSURTANAL doing research in the Delta area in Berau, East Kalimantan. Broadly speaking BAKOSURTANAL final destination, in this joint research program generates a model of knowl-lolaan natural resources Coastal and Marine berazaskan integrated and sustainable. The research program is then aligned with the Research Institute of Geomatics program in the field of remote sensing (remote sensing or remote sensing) and Geographic Information System so was born the research program "Model Application Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems, Delta Region Berau, East Kalimantan."
In this study assessed the ability of multi-resolution remote sensing imagery for inventory of coastal and marine natural resources, monitor the development of the delta, monitor water quality and the application of geographical information systems in environmental modeling Berau Delta region
As the main data from this study used ASTER image, an image that is expected to increasingly play an important role for remote sensing applications in medium scale. This research resulted in several scientific papers that test the capabilities of ASTER imagery in the identification of land cover, water depth, sediment content, and chlorophyll. Therefore, the results of this research can be utilized as a guide for those who want to use ASTER imagery in a variety of applications.
